What The Autumn International Series Means For The 2018 Six Nations

Who will be crowned champions?

It’s been a mixed Autumn International Series for the Six Nations sides. Ireland, Scotland and England will be full of confidence after their results, while France and Wales should be slightly worriesd

Italy meanwhile will be reasonably happy that they’ve made progress. While they suffered heavy defeats to Argentina and South Africa, they can take some positives from them games, and will be happy with the win over Fiji.

So what does November mean for the 2018 NatWest Six Nations? First and foremost Ireland and England will once again be clear favourites ahead of the rest of the pack, with the latter in pole position for an unprecedented three titles in a row.

While Ireland have Scotland, Wales and Italy at home this year, they face a daunting trip to Twickenham on Paddy’s Day. Once again we could be looking at a Six Nations decider here, but after this year, we don’t want to jinx it.

Scotland have made some massive strides this month and won’t be too far behind if they’re lucky with injuries. Townsend has a good core group of players, but if he picks up a few injuries, their challenge could diminish pretty quickly.

Wales and France on current form will not be able to mount a serious challenge, with both nations struggling big time this month. Heavy defeats to Australia and New Zealand for Gatland’s men and a controversial win over Georgia, leaves some serious question marks hovering over them.

France were even worse, losing at home to the Springboks, getting battered by the All Blacks, before limping to a draw with Japan.

We reckon as things stand England will nick it due to having Ireland at home on the final day, but it realistically could go either way. Ireland and England should occupy the top two spots, in what order remains to be seen. Scotland will challenge, but no higher than 3rd/4th.

Predicted Six Nations 2018 Final Standings
