Our Six Nations Team Of The Week – Round 2
The best of the best.
Ireland are sitting pretty at the top of the table after two rounds of the Six Nations thanks to their bonus-point win over Italy at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday.
Here’s our team of the week.
15. Mike Brown
Man of the match against Wales and rightly so. An excellent performance from the Harlequins man. Just ask Eddie Jones.
14. Teddy Thomas
Two more tries for the Racing man, he is simply electric. His first was almost a carbon copy of last week’s score against Ireland.
13. Robbie Henshaw
A man mountain once again at 13 with two excellent tries. A real shame it looks like his tournament is now over with injury.
12. Owen Farrell
Ran the show at 12 once again for the Red Rose. His kick in behind for Jonny May’s first try was world class.
11. Keith Earls
Another superb performance from the Munster man, he caused the Italians problems all day long.
10. Gareth Anscombe
Completely changed Wales’ game against England when he was moved to ten in the second-half. Really tested the English defence, and perhaps unlucky to not put his side in for a score.
9. Greig Laidlaw
Silenced all the doubters with his immaculate boot. 22 points in total for the Clermont man, he proved to be the difference against France.
1. Mako Vunipola
Mako being Mako again.
2. Guilhem Guirado
Another heroic performance from the captain, notching up 19 tackles.
3. Andrew Porter
Had to come on after just three minutes with Tadhg Furlong injured and boy did he take his chance. Some big tackles and carries.
4. Joe Launchbury
A monster in defence and offloaded beautifully for Jonny May’s second try.
5. Jonny Gray
Made some big carries and was instrumental in Sean Maitland’s try.
6. Aaron Shingler
Probably Wales’ best player again. Superb performance.
7. Sam Underhill
That tackle though.
8. Chris Robshaw
Forced to move to eight when Sam Simmonds came off and put in an incredible performance. The former England captain made 16 tackles as well as gaining 25 metres for seven carries.
