The war rages one.

Steve Hansen and Warren Gatland don’t exactly have the best of relationships. The pair have gone head-to-head on many occassions over the years, with things reaching new levels over the summer as the Lions toured New Zealand.

The pair are constantly back in forth in the media, and it appears that trend will continue this week ahead of the All Blacks’ visit to the Principality Stadium on Saturday.

Following Wales’ win over Georgia on Saturday, Gatland played down the rivalry, stating there’s no issues between them and he looks forward to have a post-match drink with the All Blacks boss this weekend.

“People try to make a lot of stuff about myself and Steve, but I’d like to think there’s no issues,” he said.

“I’ve got a huge amount of respect for what he’s achieved in the game and the success he’s had as an All Blacks coach has been absolutely outstanding.

“And so I look forward to catching up with him on Saturday and having a drink after the game.”

Hansen however, stated he’s not looking forward to meeting Gatland, but instead is excited about playing Wales. Perhaps suggesting it will be a walk in the park for the world champions.

“I’m not really looking forward to seeing him (Gatland), but I am looking forward to playing Wales.” Hansen said.

A day later Hansen told a newspaper reporter “not to go there” when he asked about the rivalry with the Wales coach. Expect plenty more comments from both coaches this week as we edge closer to the fixture.
