Watch: Emotional Scenes As MND Sufferer Doddie Weir Delivers Ball At Murrayfield
Wow.
Scotland put on a brave showing against the All Blacks yesterday evening at Murrayfield, pushing the world champions right to the edge in a thrilling encounter.
It was an emotionally charged affair thanks to a wonderful moment before the game, with former Scotland lock and MND sufferer Doddie Weir delivering the match ball.
Weir, who represented the British and Irish Lions, and earned 61 caps during an impressive ten-year international career, was diagnosed with motor neurone disease this year, and has earned widespread acclaim for his efforts in battling it and raising awareness and funds with his foundation.
67,0000 fans rose to their feet as Weir made his entrance alongside his three sons. Weir struggled to hold back his tears, such was the moment as he was greeted by All Blacks captain Kieran Read, referee Matthew Carley, Scotland outhalf Finn Russell and All Blacks playmaker Beauden Barrett.
In incredible moment that will live long in the memory.
