Joey Carbery reminded us against Fiji yesterday why he’s so highly-rated in Ireland, with some moments of absolute brilliance as he reverted back to his preferred position of outhalf.
The Leinster playmaker carved open the Fiji defence on a number of occasions, with some magical footwork and beautifully weighted passes. His break for Ireland’s opening try was particularly impressive.
Beauden Barrett would have been proud of his step, along with the impressive turn of pace, as he left the Fijian defence flat on its arse, before putting Darren Sweetnam in at the corner for his first try for Ireland.
