What a coincidence eh?

Wales it appears have learned from France’s dodgy scrum dealings against them in this year’s Six Nations. Les Blues famously reintroduced prop Rabah Slimani in one of the most bizarre and longest ends to a rugby match in history.

Yesterday’s game between Wales and Georgia though, wasn’t far off, with many accusing Gatland of ‘cheating’ after some rather shady tactics in the final moments of the fixture.

Georgia’s biggest attacking weapon is and always has been their scrum, and Wales decided to nullify that threat under some shady circumstances. Two minutes into injury time, Wales prop Thomas Francis was sent to the sin bin. Rather than bring back on either of their props Nicky Smith and Leon Brown, Wales sent on hooker Kristian Dacey, meaning the scrums would become uncontested.

Georgia were forced to kick to the corner, unable to use their most powerful weapon and Wales ended up nicking a 13-6 win.

Gatland says both players were suffering from ‘cramps’ and couldn’t come back on. Former Wales prop Adam Jones has accused Wales of pulling ‘the fastest one ever’ as a result and it’s hard to disagree with him.

Gatland meanwhile denies any wrongdoing:

“I can promise you there was nothing from our point of view to manipulate the laws. If Leon had been fit he would have gone back on”.

We can’t help but think how he’d feel if the shoe was on the other foot.
