Warren Gatland Names His Wales Team For Georgia Test
Plenty of changes.
Warren Gatland has named his Wales side for this weekend’s Test with Georgia, ringing the changes as expected after last weekend’s loss to Australia.
Rhys Priestland returns to start for Wales, with Toulon-bound Rhys Webb also coming back in to partner him at halfback. Meanwhile Alex Cuthbert starts on one wing, with Liam Williams reverting to his preferred position of fullback.
Dan Lydiate makes his first start for Wales since returning from a serious injury that ruled him out for most of last season, while Gatland has named a strong bench that includes the likes of Taulupe Faletau and Dan Biggar.
“We felt this week was really important to give a number of the squad as much exposure as possible to test match rugby.” Head coach Warren Gatland said.
“It is an exciting opportunity for some of the younger guys to take the field and show us what they are capable of. We have got a fair amount of experience to throw into the mix too, both with players who have got a decent number of cap numbers but also players who have been around this environment for a good while too.”
“Georgia are coming to Cardiff on the back of a good victory last weekend and they will be looking to show what they can do on this stage and we have to be ready for that.”
