Not good.

Joey Carbery put in a fine display against Fiji yesterday evening, particularly in the first-half. His step inside and turn of pace for Ireland’s first try was reminiscent of a certain All Blacks playmaker, with the Leinster star shining in his preferred position of outhalf.

It was his first start for Ireland since playing the USA over the summer, and while his performances in each game were entirely different, with Carbery struggling against the Eagles, they both had similar endings.

Carbery was forced off with an ankle injury against America, and last night left the field in some pain with an arm injury. It turns out, Carbery may have a fracture.

Following the game, Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt told RTE:

“There may be a fracture there, we certainly hope not but that may be case.”

After the game, Schmidt once again stated he reckons it’s a fracture.

“Yeah, I think he has fractured his left forearm… We’ll update it on Monday. We can’t absolutely confirm it but that looks to be the case.”
