Toulon Owner Mourad Boudjellal Threatens To Forfeit Games If Changes Not Made
“We will be relegated.”
Toulon owner Mourad Boudjellal has threatened to forfeit Toulon’s games if they are forced to play on a Sunday again, after last weekend’s loss to Racing 92 at the Stade Mayol.
Boudjellal says playing on a Sunday compromises his “economic model” as Toulon struggle to fill their stadium on this day.
“Sunday at Mayol (Toulon lost 40-29 to Racing 92), the stadium was empty, it’s been two years since the club was put in trouble playing Sunday,” Boudjellal said
“We have a model based on ticketing, merchandising, some have decided to kill us in the League (LNR),”
“And we will go down to the Pro D2 and will not get out,”
“Whatever happens, I do not care, if we play on Sunday, we will be relegated.”
Boudjellal added was going to “write to the Minister” of Sports, Laura Flessel.
