Should Ireland Beat Argentina This Weekend They Will Reach A Very Special Milestone

Progress.

Ireland’s progress since the 2015 Rugby World Cup will come full circle this weekend if they manage to defeat old enemies Argentina at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

The last time the two sides met Ireland were embarrassed and dumped out of the Rugby World Cup at the quarter final stages once again. While Ireland were missing a number of key players, Schmidt was criticised for not building a squad with strength in depth.

Since then however, Ireland have done exactly that, all while pulling off some historic results along the way. They defeated the All Blacks last year for the very first time, and also defeated South Africa and Australia in the same calendar year.

Ireland also remain the only team to have defeated England since Eddie Jones took charge two years ago. A win this weekend will mean Ireland have defeated every single Tier 1 nation in the world in the last two years bar Wales, who they managed a draw with.

Progress indeed.
