Ronan O’Gara Says Ireland Must Pick Simon Zebo If They Want To Be Successful
“He offers something we don’t have.”
Ronan O’Gara reckons Ireland should be picking their best players, and that an arrangement needs to be made with Simon Zebo despite his impending move to Racing 92 in the Top 14.
Zebo has been immediately dropped from the Irish set-up after making the announcement that he would be leaving Munster at the end of the season, but O’Gara feels he shouldn’t be punished for wanting to test himseld in another country.
At the end of the day, it’s Ireland’s results that matter according to O’Gara and Zebo’s skills should determine whether or not he’s selected in the national team, not his location. Speaking ahead of Ireland’s record win over the Springboks, ROG reckons if Ireland have serious aspirations, and want to win the World Cup in 2019 – Zebo must be selected.
“We need our best players going to the world cup. If we want to win it, Zebo has to be there.” O’Gara said
