Connacht stalwart John Muldoon is set to retire from professional rugby at the end of the season, after playing over 300 games for Connacht. The 35-year-old forward broke the news on Twitter last week.

But what next for Muldoon? Well it appears he’s set to stay in rugby, but not with Connacht. Instead The Irish Times are reporting he will link up with his old head coach Pat Lam at Bristol as part of his coaching ticket next season.

Lam and Muldoon led Connacht to their most successful season in history back in 2012 when they lifted the PRO12, and now it appears they’re set to team up once more. The move would also see him reunite with another former Connacht player in Dubliner Conor McPhillips, who is backs coach at Bristol.

He will also be joined by Aly Muldowney and Jake Heenan both of who played under Lam during their PRO12 success and recently announced they would join Bristol this summer.
