Garry Ringrose Set To Sign New Leinster Deal But There’s A Catch
Staying put.
Garry Ringrose is set to commit his short-term future to Leinster by signing a new two-year deal with the province.
Ringrose, who’s current contract expires in the summer, is set to sign a provincial deal however, rather than a central IRFU contract according to a report by The42.
The talented centre was expected to sign a national contract, given how highly he is rated in Ireland. But will apparently have to make do with a provincial one.
This probably explains the short-term length of the deal despite his age (22), with perhaps Ringrose and his representatives hoping he will get a central deal next time round.
The IRFU are still hoping to get the likes of CJ Stander, Peter O’Mahony, Iain Henderson and Tadhg Furlong to sign new contracts, with all of them no doubt demanding nothing less than central deals.
Securing Ringrose on a provincial deal could very well be what Irish Rugby needs to secure them, with extra funds to play around with.
