Watch: This Clip From The Fiji vs Italy Game Perfectly Encapsulates Rugby
A savages game, played by gentlemen.
Conor O’Shea’s Italy took on Fiji over the weekend in a close fought affair, with the Azzuri coming away with a 19-10 victory.
Former Leinster academy player Ian McKinley completed his miraculous return to the rugby in the fixture by making his international Test debut, coming off the bench to score a vital penalty.
There was another moment in the game however, that seems to have caught everyone’s attention as it perfectly encapsulates what rugby is all about.
Midway through the first half Italy were on a dangerous attack when fullback Jayden Hayward was absolutely smashed into touch by Josua Tuisova, sending him over the advertising hoardings.
It was what happened next that showed rugby for what it’s worth, as Tuisova immediately went over to give Hayward a hand back up, clearly apologetic for what he had just done.
Such an incredible show of sportsmanship, and the reason why we love rugby so much.
Josua Tuisova helps his opponent up after launching him into the advertising board!
