Rassie Erasmus Leaves Munster With Incredible PRO12/14 Record, Beating Joe Schmidt

Not bad at all.

Rassie Erasmus’ time with Munster officially came to an end yesterday as he and defence coach Jacques Nienaber bid their farewell ahead of a move back to South Africa.

Erasmus will begin a new role created especially for him, where he will oversee rugby of all levels in South Africa, a similar role to that of David Nucifora with Ireland. Despite only being with Munster for a little over 18 months, Erasmus will leave a hell of a legacy behind him.

His period with the province will never be forgotten, as it featured some incredible highs and lows. Erasmus oversaw Munster’s permanent move to Limerick with their new state-of-the-art facility in UL, and was there for the lowest point in the province’s history as Munster buried their former captain and head coach Anthony Foley.

He also restored a huge amount of pride back to the province, going on an incredible run last season that saw them reach the PRO12 final and the Champions Cup semi-final. His record was so impressive in the PRO12/14, that he’s now got the best winning percentage in the history of the competition, beating Ireland boss Joe Schmidt.

Erasmus won 21 of his 26 games in charge, an incredible 81% win rate. Schmidt comes in second with a 75% win rate. All the best Rassie. You did a hell of a job.
