Munster Sweating On The Fitness Of Key International For Castres Game

Munster head into this weekend’s crucial Champions Cup pool clash with Castres at Thomond Park, knowing a win will be enough see them progress to the knockout stages.
While Johann van Graan’s men will be focusing on get the win first and foremost, it will definitely play on their mind knowing that a try-bonus could be enough for a home quarter final.
Depending on results they may also need to beat La Rochelle or Scarlets on points difference, so it’s all guns blazing this weekend, with the hope that they can win and win well.
They may however, have to do it without their captain Peter O’Mahony, who is suffering from an ankle problem.
“I’m working with the medical staff,” O’Mahony said at his team’s UL training base today.
“I’ve a couple of things to come through. I’ll see how the week goes.”
Head coach Johann van Graan added:
“(O’Mahony) won’t train today. He could possibly play at the weekend. We’ll manage him through the week and we’ll see in two days’ time if he’s able to train.
“I’m hopeful he’ll be captain on Sunday and lead us out at Thomond Park.”
In other team news, Conor Oliver and Mike Sherry have been added to Munster’s European squad for the pool finale, with Liam O’Connor and Mark Flanagan the men deregistered.
