Joe Schmidt Complains About Media Inaccuracies Then Does It Himself

Pot, kettle, black.

Joe Schmidt recently came out an said he’s been “frustrated” by the media talk surrounding some of the contract talks with Ireland’s top names, stating a lot of it is “inaccurate.”

In the same interview he was asked about Jonny Sexton’s condition after the Exeter game, after the playmaker was replaced early on in the Champions Cup pool clash with a head injury.

Schmidt stated that Sexton was “fine” and that he had passed his HIA.

“[Sexton] passed his HIA,” said Schmidt.

He’s okay, I spoke to him this evening. He’s fine, he’s likely to be back playing…”

Today Leinster have come out and revealed that Sexton DID in face fail his HIA.

“Leinster is happy to clarify that he (Sexton) failed HIA 1 and is currently following return to play protocols,” a Leinster spokesperson told RTÉ Sport.

If you’re gonna call out the media for inaccuracies Joe, make sure you don’t do the same yourself. Especially with all the controversy that has surrounded head injuries in rugby over the last 24 months or so.
