It Looks Like Simon Zebo Might Not Be Moving To Racing 92 After All
Hold your horses.
Simon Zebo is still leaving Munster at the end of the season, but it appears his destination still remains unknown. Reports this week suggested a €700,000-a-season deal to move to Paris with Racing 92 was done, but defence coach Ronan O’Gara has revealed this is not the case.
Writing in his column for The Irish Examiner, O’Gara says the Zebo deal is far from done.
“This is awkward. There seems to be a presumption that Simon Zebo is moving from Munster to Racing 92 next season,” he said.
“I’ve been even called the equivalent of Tadhg Kennelly! This much I know. Simon Zebo will move to France’s Top 14 after this season. Yes, we are in the frame. But this is a fast-moving story and as late as last night I was told there are four Top 14clubs seriously interested in acquiring his services and more than willing to flash the cash to do so.
“Until his club of choice says he’s coming. until Simon signs something, there are no other facts I can confirm. I’m not being clever.
“Racing want Zebo, but until someone tells me otherwise, it’s no done deal.”
Interesting developments. We know for sure Pau are one of those French clubs said to be interested. They also have a strong Munster contingent, with the likes of Paddy Butler and Dave Foley on their books along with head coach Simon Mannix.
