Interesting Study Reveals Why Young People Take Up Rugby
Why play rugby?
An interesting study done recently by England Rugby has revealed what drives young people to take up rugby in the first place. The stats were revealed at an age grade education conference, and they make for some interesting reading.
A massive 44% of young people take up the sport because they want to be part of a team, with 39% taking it up simply because they enjoy playing rugby.
Interestingly competitiveness is down in 5th place with just 19% of the vote, while winning is way down in eight with just 14%. Understanding why young players play the game is key as former England international Lewis Moody points out.
If you play or have played rugby… What made you take up the sport? Sound off in the comments.
