Donal Óg Cusack Issues Two Statements After Resigning From Positions
Donal Óg Cusack yesterday informed the Clare County Board & the Board of Sport Ireland that he will be resigning from both positions.
The decision comes in the wake of disgraced sports journalist Tom Humphries’ sentencing yesterday. The former Irish Times journalist was handed a two-and-a-half year jail sentence for child sex abuse yesterday.
The ruling has has caused uproar in Ireland as many feel the sentence was too short. One of the mitigating factors in the judge’s decision was Cusack’s character reference, which many have criticised him for, hence his decision to resign.
He has since released the following statements explaining his decision.
